Sphaera Ephemeris came into being in 2000, when blogging was a thing few did. Its creator, Nikos Karanikos, wanted a blog about Greek politics written in English.

SE quickly acquired a good following and became the only, perhaps, Greek English-speaking political blog ever to score over 1,000 daily unique visitors, a substantial readership given the subject and limited interest about Greek politics outside this country.

Nick though was moving in a different direction and in 2003 he left Greece and Sphaera went into the wilderness. The domain name was quickly highjacked by two separate individuals and was locked away from domain names on offer.

In 2004 I put an alert in to catch Sphaera in case it was released — and the alert paid off five years later this past July. So, here’s the “new” Sphaera Ephemeris, albeit with a slightly different “mission statement” not focused on Greek politics any longer, although references to the political collapse of this place will be certainly part of future posts.

Sphaera, thus, succeeds my LandOMiracles.com, which has been transferred here and is a fully functional blog, although not updated any longer.

Sphaera is my open notebook, where I do “free associations,” post photos, talk about the universe, explore personal moods, and highlight useful information, blogs, Web sites and any other information that does not exactly fall under the three main Internet streams: pornography-sex, violence, and gambling.

This isn’t a “niche” blog. It is rather a cast-the-net-wide site, a personal effort to stop scribbling things here and there on pieces of paper, which I always lose, and collect all of my thoughts, findings, concerns, et cetera in one place.
